What districts should ask a special education staffing partner

A short list of questions that separates a partner who understands special education from a vendor filling a requisition.

Most staffing conversations start with availability and rate. Those matter, but they say very little about whether a placement will succeed once the professional walks onto a campus.

Ask who reviews credentials, and what happens when a licence or certification is close to expiring. Ask how supervision is handled for assistant-level roles. Ask what the escalation path is when a placement is not working.

Ask about continuity. A district that receives a different provider every six weeks will spend more time onboarding than receiving services.

Finally, ask what the partner knows about ARD timelines, eligibility criteria and evaluation standards. A partner who understands the work will ask you questions in return.
